Welcome to Immigration Road Community

Welcome to IRC – your Immigration Road Community!

This is the place where you can meet other people pursuing the same dreams. You can ask for directions, get roadside assistance or lend a helping hand. Feel free to post on the forum, but also try creating your own groups, following friends and publishing quick updates. IRC is designed to be a social network for immigrants. With more features on the way, IRC is the perfect place to make connections, share information, help each other, and march together!

If you are an attorney or immigration professional, you are welcome to join the community as well. Many will appreciate your presence. As we further develop IRC, you will find more ways to become actively involved, and reach out to thousands of immigrants/visitors looking for help.

We also welcome law school students, corporate immigration staff and others who are interested in learning and sharing in the world of immigration.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Quick Tip #1 – How to start a discussion:

    1. To post a question or topic, please go to Forums, and click on the New Topic button;
    2. Select the proper Group before posting your topic (you must join the group first);
    3. Alternatively, you may post a short update directly on the Group’s home page, but your post will not appear in the Forums and thus will be viewed by fewer visitors.

  2. Quick Tip #2 – Do I need to use my real name to register an account?

    You don’t have to. But try to pick a meaningful name because it is what other users see.

  3. I would like to inform the Managment and staff of this wonderful institution that your are doing a great job by helping the needy in immigration matters and I personally benefited from your wealth of experience and professionalism. Please keep educating the masses out there. Thank you so much.

    Hi ,
    I am trying apply for F2 visa as a dependent to my wife.After I got the visa if I am processing H1 visa in USA through some employer can I come to USA on F2 can I do the work on H1 if i get H1 Approval?

  7. For non-immigration visas, it is usually the last action that determines your status. If you come to U.S. on F2, and later change your status to H-1B, then yes you will be able to work under H1. You want to inform your employer about your visa/status so they can best assist you. Also at point of entry you may be asked about the purpose of your trip to the U.S.

  8. Could a current F1-Visa holder apply for green card while still pursuing undergraduate degree work?

  9. It is possible, but with higher risks. For example, it will be very difficult to get another F-1 visa stamp should you leave the U.S. and then seek re-entry in the same status.

  10. My mum is a green card holder and left the US to Ghana to visit the parents,siblings and children. Can she spent more than six months in Ghana, Will she face difficulties if she wants to return to the US?
